Italy
Italy uses the milk from cows, goats, sheep and
even water buffalo to make some of the worlds finest
cheese. Parmigiano-Reggiano, Asiago, Provolone, Pecorino
Romano and Gorgonzola are among the best known. Serve
with crusty bread, olives and salami. Don't forget a
flavorful Italian red wine. |
Holland & Norway
Holland is famous for Gouda, Edam, and Smoked
Gouda which has a robust smoked flavor that goes well
on sandwiches or for snacking with crackers and fresh
fruit. Norway's most famous export is Jarlsberg Cheese.
This world class cheese is delicate and nutty. Slice
for sandwiches or dice into chunks for a healthy snack
with fruit and crackers. |
Switzerland
Switzerland's eponymous contribution to the cheese
world is well known. And Emmentaler Swiss, from the
Emmi Valley high in the Alps, is the world's first Swiss
variety. Lovingly hand-made the same way for hundreds
of years by artisans in small village dairies in copper
vats. It is best consumed with light, fruity red or
a light, spicy white wine. |
The British Isles
The place where Cheddar was developed makes some
of the finest cheese in the world. Derby, Stilton, Huntsman
and Cheshire, are some of the most popular. Cheshire
is flaky in texture with a mild, creamy and mildly salty
flavor. Great plain, with bread and butter, or with
sliced ripe tomato. Accompany with beer or light red
or dry white wines. |
Spain
Glorious Spain features many exceptional cheeses
from the southeastern region near the Mediterranean
coastline. We have Winey Goat - a smooth goat's milk
cheese rubbed with local red wine... the "vino tinto"
- heavy in tannin and rich in color for a dramatic look
that creates a fruity flavor and lusciously grape aroma...
Manchego Cheese - from the plains of La Mancha, made
from sweet scented milk of the Manchego sheep, for a
rich, mello, nutty and flavorful cheese. |
France
Tourist travel to France has created a worldwide
demand for French cheese. Saint Andre, Roquefort and
Montrachet are some we have available everyday. Our
Brie is savory with a fruity tang, and a rich lingering
finish. At perfect ripeness it is one of the most delectable
cheeses. Great with most wines, it also makes a great
sandwich grilled on a baguette. |
